GRAS Sound & Vibration offers a wide range of standard accessories in the form of cables, adapters, windscreens and tripods for use in measuring set-ups. These can be broadly split up under accessories for microphones, for preamplifiers, for outdoor microphones, for pistonphones and pinna simulators and accessories for ear simulators. Some are included with certain products, some are available as extras. All can be ordered individually. The brief descriptions given here as well as those on downloadable accessories sheet will help you to select what you need for your particular set-up. GRAS OP0023 Kit for Sensitivity Calibration of Flush-mount Microphone Sets
For sensitivity calibration of our flush-mount microphone sets, you will in addition to a Pistonphone (e.g. GRAS 42AP) need an adapter for each microphone size.
This kit contains adapters for 1/8”, 1/4″ and 1/2″ sizes which fit into the GRAS RA0048 1/2″ coupler. This coupler is included with GRAS Pistonphones.
GRAS OP0025 Kit for Sensitivity Calibration of 1/4″ Surface Microphones
For sensitivity calibration of 1/4″ precision surface microphones, you will in addition to a Pistonphone, e.g. GRAS 42AP, need an adapter.
This kit contains an adapter for 1/4″ size, which fits into the GRAS RA0048 1/2″ coupler. This coupler is included with GRAS Pistonphones.
GRAS RA0024 Coupler for two-port Calibration
The GRAS RA0024 coupler has ports for two 1/2″ microphones for comparison calibrations between two microphones; one of which is a reference microphone. It can also be used in measuring the P-I (Pressure-Intensity) Index of intensity probes at 250 Hz. For use with GRAS 42AA and 42AP Pistonphones. The picture shows a calibration set-up where RA0024 is included.
A similar coupler for GRAS 42AC is available. This is the GRAS RA0042.
GRAS RA0042 Coupler for two-port Calibration
The GRAS RA0042 coupler has ports for two 1/2″ microphones for comparison calibrations between two microphones; one of which is a reference microphone. It can also be used in measuring the P-I (Pressure-Intensity) Index of intensity probes at 250 Hz. For use with GRAS 42AC Pistonphone.
A similar coupler for GRAS 42AA and 42AB is available. This is the GRAS RA0024.
GRAS RA0048 Pistonphone coupler
The GRAS RA0048 is a Pistonphone coupler which is factory mounted on GRAS Pistonphone and they are factory calibrated as one unit. The RA0048 is used for calibration of 1/2″ microphones (and together with adapters for other sizes). With this coupler a sound pressure level of 114 dB is produced.
GRAS RA0049 Microphone adapter for pistonphones
This pistonphone adapter makes possible to calibrate a microphone with a 7 mm protection grid when used together with a coupler for 1/2″. Notice that the 7 mm protection grid size apply both for our standard 1/4″ microphones/microphone sets (e.g. 46BE) and 7 mm diameter microphones (e.g. 40PK).
GRAS RA0060 Calibration Coupler for 1/2” Nosecone
The GRAS RA0060 is a coupler for use when calibrating a 1/2″ microphone with a nosecone mounted, with a GRAS Pistonphone.
GRAS RA0069 Microphone adapter for pistonphones
The GRAS RA0069 is an adapterfor use when calibrating a 1/8″ microphone with a GRAS Sound Level Calibrator or Pistonphone.
GRAS RA0072 Octopus coupler
The GRAS RA0072 is an Octopus coupler for calibrating up to eight 1/2″ microphones simultaneously with one Pistonphone.
Typical application and use
The main coupler of an octopus coupler, which replaces the pistonphone’s normal coupler, is connected to eight separate couplers via narrow-bore flexible tubes 50 cm long. Each of these separate couplers can accept a microphone or a plug substitute.

GRAS RA0119 Pistonphone Adapter
The GRAS RA0119 is a pistonphone adapter for calibration checking the Ear Simulator Type 43AE when a pinna simulator is mounted on the IEC 60711 Ear Simulator RA0045.
GRAS RA0157 1/2″ Calibration Adapter for KEMAR Pinna
The pistonphone adapter RA0157 makes it possible to calibrate an Ear Simulator GRAS RA0045 with KEMAR Ear Canal Extension using a Pistonphone.
GRAS RA0168 Digital Barometer
This precision barometer has an LCD which can display (toggle button) either the static-pressure correction (e.g. -0.13 dB) for a pistonphone or the ambient static pressure (e.g. 997 hPa).
This product is intended as optional accessory for pistonphones which as standard has an analogue barometer included i.e. for GRAS 42AA, 42AC & 42AC-S2.
GRAS RA0202 Pistonphone Calibration Adapter for 1/4″ Surface Microphone Sets
The GRAS RA0202 is an adapter to be used for sensitivity calibration of GRAS 40LA & 40LS 1/4″ Surface Microphone Sets using a GRAS Pistonphone. The adapter is provided with a holder arm which keeps the microphone firmly attached during laboratory calibration. This adapter is also suitable for in-situ verification.
GRAS RA0216 Field verification adapter for 67AX/AD
The GRAS RA0216 is an adapter to be used for field-verification of the 1/2″ flush-mount microphone which is part of GRAS 67AX & 67AD. In addition to the actual adapter, a ring with two fingerscrews are included. Thereby the adapter can be firmly attached to the plate which has corresponding threaded holes.
The adapter fits both pistonphones (e.g. 42AP Intelligent Pistonphone) and the GRAS 42AB Sound Calibrator.
In addition, the adapter can be used for field verification of 1/2″, 1/4″ or 1/8″ flush-mounted microphones in test objects. In this case the included ring is not used.
